Badgers and apples.

We had a good apple harvest last autumn and left some of the bruised and damaged fruit beneath the tree.
Badgers have found this a useful source of food and make regular nocturnal visits to our garden.

Sunshine and Primroses

We have had some lovely sunny days this week when it has felt like spring with the banks covered in primroses.
A great time to get out and walk in the countryside.

Blackthorn

The white flowers of the Blackthorn are already starting to brighten up the hedges.
Last year was good for sloes which are the fruit of the Blackthorn pictured below two months ago in December.

Oaks in Winter

One of the joys of winter walks is the ability to see the structure of trees like these magnificent English Oaks. In a few months they will be impressive  in a different way with a canopy of green leaves hiding their skeleton.

Winter sunset

After a cold and almost dry day we were able to enjoy a lovely winter sunset which highlighted the Oak tree. It's still wet underfoot after storm Imogen but the wind has dried up many of the paths and we enjoyed getting out for a long walk with our rambling friends, thanks Karen for leading us around the Uley valley and hills.
