Ancient Oaks

Oak trees survive for hundreds of years but if all their branches remained in place then the tree would probably topple over due to the excess weight. This Oak has adapted by shedding branches thus enabling the tree to survive.
The useful life of Berkeley nuclear power station, which is just visible under the branches, is already over in a much shorter time, although its radioactive legacy continues.
